Some days I don't realize how much I've been running on autopilot until I catch my dog staring at me like, Hey, you good? Taking care of my dog has become one of my favorite ways to ground myself. These little moments we share throughout the day are like tiny reminders to slow down, tune in and reconnect. When I feel a little off or scattered, I start with something simple. A slow walk, not a rushed bathroom break, but a real walk. We meander, we pause, we explore. It helps me feel grounded in the wall around me, more connected to my neighborhood. Then comes a little treat for both of us. I give myself some tea, grab him a snack, and we sit together like it's our own tiny picnic nexus grooming. I brush him out or wipe his paws, maybe clean his ears. Just taking that time to be gentle and intentional always calms me down. Sometimes I realize he takes care of me just as much as I take care of him. Showing up for him reminds me that the love you give is the love you receive in patience, softness, in the small everyday moments, it all comes full circle. So if you're ever feeling disconnected, crash, starting with your pet, they're always in the moment and they're always ready to love. Sometimes that's exactly what we need to come back to ourselves.
